PETER ALWAST

Peter Alwast's conceptual practice interrogates the possibilities of painting in its relation and resistance to other media. His paintings, video works, and prints mix different layers of representation, invoking a range of personal and political mediations about institutions, social fragmentation and community.

At the heart of Alwast’s most recent work are ideas related to translation and the interface between the material practice of painting and painterly conventions in media practices.
