Thanks to Peter Fay for his post on Gallery 9′s show by the eminent landscape painter Michael Taylor.

“He might well be advancing in years, but Michael Taylor’s new canvasses at Gallery 9 look as if they could have been painted by someone full of the feelings of youth. There is a wonderful freshness and vivacity in most of these works. Michael does sound a few deeper notes that hold a sense of warning of the coming of darker times, but for the most part these works are such a tonic for lovers of good painting. As you look at the show you will understand why James Mollison named Michael one of the greats of Australian abstract painting.”

Adam Norton: open studio @ Artspace 2012

Gallery 9 artist and current Art Space studio resident Adam Norton will open his studio to the public this Friday and Saturday, 11 – 12 May.

A continuation of his ongoing body of work, ‘Das Marsprojekt’, Norton’s most recent project Space Yurt will be on display in the studio before heading to Melbourne for its official launch at this year’s Melbourne Art Fair.

Artspace is located at 43 – 51 Cowper Wharf Road Wooloomooloo, NSW

Congratulations to Craig Waddell whose work, Autumn Song II has been selected as a finalist in the 2012 NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize.

Craig Waddell’s Beasty Boy (2011) will be exhibited in this year’s fundraiser exhibition for Voiceless at the Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation, ‘Voices of Art 3 – For the love of animals’.

Jelle van den Berg: exhibition – Drawback (Uni. of Woolongong) 2012
